sparklers & watermelon juice stained tummies

We decided to stay in the valley this year for the fourth instead of making our annual trip up to Heber to enjoy their amazing fireworks. Since it wasn't worth roasting in the heat we went against tradition and didn't see a single firework. This holiday just isn't the same without the magical display.

We did, however, enjoy two lovely BBQ's with both sides of the family. I was too busy playing host at the one with my family to take any pictures.  I did manage to snap a few pictures of the small party we had with some of the remaining Haynes family members that didn't go up to the cabin.

How grateful we are for the freedoms we have that we take for granted everyday.

I agree with the definite nolan face in the first pic. Too cute.

Sorry you missed the fireworks, I would have been bummed too. They are my favorite.

Man, that Nolan. His intense eyes and expressions are so telling of his strong little personality.

i love these pics! Nolan looks so cute eating that watermelon... I'm kinda glad Brody doesn't like it- more for me! haha But wait.. they still make watermelon with seeds?!(; (heh heh) No really, I can never find it anymore and I'm convinced it tastes better than seedless.
