Alaska

Two weeks ago I took an impromptu trip up to Alaska. My Dad started a business up there in May so my mom took my brothers up there for the summer to be with him. They had been trying for weeks to convince me take Nolan up there to visit them, but six hours on a plane with an infant just never sounded that appealing. But after two weeks of my mom being gone I thought why not? It's not everyday you're able to go to Alaska. So the next day Nolan and I jumped on a plane and were off to Ketchikan, Alaska (Thanks to one of my mom's friends that works for the airlines and had an extra buddy pass). It actually wasn't bad at all. I was super nervous because I never know how Nolan will be. Sometimes he's such a sweetheart and then other times (most of the time) he can have such a temper. But with the help of a little Benadryl (I know I'm such a bad mom, but I couldn't chance him screaming the whole time) he did great.

It is absolutely beautiful there. Luckily it was sunny the whole week, which is unheard of, seeing how it gets the most rain of any other city in North America. So we were really able to enjoy everything Ketchikan has to offer (which isn't much :).

We saw a bear almost everyday and there were always bald eagles flying overhead.

We went to the Great American Logging show, saw the town in a trolley and enjoyed Salmon, that my family caught, every night.

These cruise ships are HUGE! It makes me want
to go on one so bad.

My family loved being able to spend all day, every day, with Nolan and hold him whenever they wanted even though he wasn't very happy. He was really having a rough time. He was super constipated, he didn't nap well, he woke up multiple times during the night (my sweet mother would get up with us every time to see how she could help) and the only way we could get him to go to sleep or calm down was to take him on a drive, even at 3:00 am. All in all, it was a great trip and totally worth it. It was nice to be there with my family and experience this new chapter in their life with them.

It's nice to be home and to be back in a routine but I sure didn't miss the 100+ degree weather. Back to spending all day in the pool:)

I have some more pictures that I'll have to post later because our computer isn't working so I'm gonna have to get them from my mom.

What a treat! Those pictures are GORGEOUS!

I'm quite jealous . . . I've never been to Alaska but it's on the top of my list to visit.

I agree--the pictures are gorgeous! You could take pictures for travel books and postcards they're so nice. But the ones of Nolan are the best, I have to say!

Holy crap, Tiffany, you're so brave! I'm so happy you got to go, sorry Nolan wasn't super enthused about the trip. Your pictures are amazing; hmmm, we need some new family pictures...

Well now that we both have boys that don't like to let their mom's travel, we need to do it together! Nolan is looking so grown up and cuter than ever, I'm so happy you're better at this motherhood stuff than I am. I tell you what, I can barely get him to drive to Grandmas, Alaska isn't somewhere I'm thinking we'll try until he's about 18.

It's been too long, let's please get together sometime very soon!

We really do need to get together. You guys are the busy ones so you tell us when and where and we'll be there.

I'm actually wanting to start some photography on the side and I need some families to practice on so if you guys want to be my guinea pigs I'd be more then willing.

That's crazy that you ended up going. I remember you talking about your mom going. It looks awesome! When you get chances like that you just have to take them! I'm so jealous!

Oh, that is AWESOME! Wasn't Alaska beautiful? You took incredible pictures!

We went there on a cruise in 2001. We were actually there during 9/11 and almost didn't get home, but we LOVED it there. It was so beautiful.

You were really brave to do all that with a baby. I would definitely not have been as brave as you. :0)
